Gallo DE Oro in Botdell

Great place to drink bad margaritas and eat good Mexican food. I love the items in the back of the menu. Hot is better. Older rock n roll bar crowd some evenings. Change of staff can be harrowing, as sometimes if you dont speak Spanish, (which I do) you might get the wrong order. No complaints though. Summer deck can be noisy (off of Bothel Way), but it's got a view of something. Lots of my local neighbors do not like this place. I do.

This is a tough one to review... the food was tasty and the portions were huge! The restuarant is a more than a bit rundown with chairs with splits in the vinyl and for bonus points the waitress spilled a beer on the table. Stuff happens.... would I come here again? There was zero compensation for spilling a beer on 5 people. Most likely but I feel they need to invest in the decor and the place feels old. So 2 starts based on good food and horrific service.

A standard Mexican restaurant that is a little worn for the wear inside but the service was good and the food wasn't as bad as some reviews state. Mine was tasty and I couldn't eat it all. It came fast and our service kept us comfortable. Prices didn't break the bank. Is it my go to Mexican restaurant- no but will I come back - I sure will.

Quite a forgettable place. Apart from the decor that is bright colored, there’s not much to this place. The food is mediocre at best. The chips served were stale and the food was tasteless. Won’t be going there again.

I honestly loved the food and service, excellent area right next to my house. The employees are always very kind. I highly recommend this place.

The food was phenomenal! And the waitress I met was funny, nice, and helpful. They have karaoke nights which is super cool (with party lights and everything!) I thoroughly enjoyed my food and time spent here. Would definitely recommend!

I have eaten here since I was little. Great food great service. Plus the only Mexican food restaurant that I haven't gotten food poisoning from. Best Mexican food around.

I didn't consider the food good but the people working there were very friendly and helpful.

Placed an order to go, was told 10-15 minute wait time. Food came out 45 minutes later, and the chips weren't even cooked thoroughly; chewy, leathery, soft in the middle.That's enough to turn me off, personally, to a Mexican restaurant. If you can't even make tortilla chips, you've got a problem.Unfortunately, the overall quality of food was not a saving grace. I had super nachos, with two missing ingredients; which I assume wouldnt have made much difference, because what I DID get was a ton of refried beans and large tomato chunks on poorly cooked chips, pretty much void of flavor.My wife had a chicken fajita taco, which was mostly HUGE chunks of onion. Again, not really a resident of flavor town.Will not go again.
